Gold Medal for Grenache Shiraz Mouvedre 2009

We are ecstatic to announce that our Grenache Shiraz Mouvedre 2009 won a Gold Medal at this years Mount Barker  QANTAS Wine show of WA.  This is the show where we won a Gold Medal for our 2009 Zinfandel in 2010.

The french style Grenache Shiraz Mouvedre 09  is intensely aromatic with raspberry, cherry and red skin with hints of rose petal, vanilla bean and spice.

It is a medium to full bodied wine with a concentrated sweet fruit palate displaying cherry, raspberry and confectionary flavours.  The wine has great length with fine soft tannins and finishes with hints of cola and musk.

Look out for it in your local liquor store.

2011 New Vintage

2011 was in general a good vintage with the whites looking particularly exciting. The vintage was early which often indicates excessive heat which is not ideal for wine quality. However in the case of 2011 the early vintage was a result of a short dry winter and essentially the vines just began their growth cycle early. So whilst the vintage was early the quality was fantastic and this was immediately evident with the 2011 sauvignon Blanc which tasted amazing right through from the grape to the bottle. This variety has been a consistent show performer for Arimia and we have high hopes for the 2011 vintage.

Another wine that has us excited is the 2011 Verdelho, this is always an intensely flavoured wine but this vintage is particularly delicate and shows no hint of the oily texture that is typical of the variety. It’s a bit early to accurately assess the red wines as they still need a bit more time to settle down in barrel. Having said that, the vintage conditions would have us hopeful of some cracking good reds. At the moment the Shiraz Viognier is looking very promising and we look forward to watching it evolve in barrel over the year.
